Webinar Date: Wednesday, November 29, 2017 - 12:00pm to 12:30pm
Due in part to the substantial rise in substance abuse in recent years, providers in the primary care setting have been advised to screen their patients for alcohol use. Join HealthInsight, the Medicare Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO), and a provider partner for this webinar to discuss opportunities to implement and effectively screen patients for alcohol use, and how to overcome barriers to resistance.
Participants will learn:
- An “Introduce, Explain, and Ask Permission” model to decrease patient resistance to completing alcohol screening and learn approaches to introduce alcohol screening in the primary care visit
- Recommended treatment approaches for patients who screen positive for alcohol misuse
This webinar will emphasize alcohol screening for older adults, but can be applicable to a larger primary care audience.
